NOTE : This has nothing to do with Madagascar.
So there is a very popular song right now by Taylor Swift called, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." It's a catchy song and I do like it and its very accurate. In its a perfect representation of a lot a relationships I have seen. They fight, break up, two days later back together. But there is one line that kind of hit me.
"You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me."
Sadly that is the pattern we go through. We talk to our friends, then talk to who ever we are mad at best friend/closest friends, then MAYBE finally go talk to the person. Now you may be better and me and not in this problem. But I for one am GUILTY when it comes to this. The first thing I do it talk to my best friend which is not always a bad thing. But there is a difference between talking looking for help and talking to bash the other person. Personally I have done both. To be honest I have anger issues, but who doesn't? I am working on my anger, with God's help. But I wonder what would happen if when you got mad if you just went and calmed down and then went back and talked to the person which you were fighting with. How many divorces would there be? How many messed up friendships would there less of? How many families would still be talking? However sometimes you do need to talk a third party, and thats okay. It can help a lot, but the problem is I find my self more bashing the person then actually trying to work out the problem. But that just means I have not calmed down yet.
This past year I worked with a group of kids at my church who were part of the "Celebrate Recovery" program. Its an amazing program. But it was very convicting because we did A LOT of lessons on anger. I was giving them all these examples how to deal with anger (a lot of their answers involved punching people). But it hit me, I don't always follow my own advice. For that I am truly sorry. Like I said I am a work in progress.
Well thats it.
